FRONT END DEVELOPER
A seasoned NYC interactive agency is looking for an experienced front-end developer. This individual will be responsible for defining the strategy for the agency's front-end department on a wide array of projects. This is a unique opportunity to become the voice of the front-end on medium- to large-scale projects. We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of interactive experience developing front-ends. The environment is intense, creative and rewarding, and the work spans a diverse set of industries and technologies.
It is ESSENTIAL that you:
- create HTML, JavaScript, and CSS from scratch (*NO WYSIWYG EDITING*)
- maintain super-clean coding practices; excellent documentation
- are extremely efficient; can manage multiple projects at once
- have extensive experience with cross-platform/browser development
- have experience developing strategies for large-scale sites
- have experience using various templating systems
- have extensive experience developing modular front-end code
- are familiar with multiple back-end technologies (PHP, JSP, Python, etc.)
- possess expert-level knowledge of JavaScript (incl. DOM manipulation, etc.)
- are comfortable with all three major platforms (Win, Mac, Linux)
- are comfortable with the Unix command-line
It would be nice if you:
- have an eye for clean design
- have a passion for accessibility
- are an advocate for the user experience
- desire to be an important part of a small, tight-knit team
- are able to act as a liaison between the designers, producers, and back-end developers
- love troubleshooting and solving problems
- have a good sense of humor
Do not apply if:
- you're a designer who dabbles in HTML/CSS/JS
- your code is a mess
- you've never validated your HTML/CSS
- you've never been part of a large project
- you've never used a CMS before
- you can't see that something is out of alignment by one pixel
- the only interaction with a server you've had is via FTP
- the only browser you've ever used is IE 6
- you've never used version-control software
- you've never written your own JS form validator
This is an unique opportunity to work with a talented group of interactive veterans who respect quality development and attention to detail.
